Scripture Reading: Mark 5: 21-34

Focus

“And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,” (Mark 5: 22)

Our Focal Scripture introduces Jairus, a ruler of the synagogue who met Jesus on account of his sick daughter. Jairus came to Jesus. The word ‘cometh’ as used in that scripture comes from the Greek word ‘Erchomai’ which means ‘grow’. So Jairus’ coming to Jesus was a matter of growth; he dared to move from the level where he was to another level as he encountered Jesus. What he achieved with Jesus came on a platter of growth.

Friend, there are things you may never achieve until you grow. There are realms in the spiritual that you may never access until you grow in your walk with God; there are wonders that God may never manifest through you until you grow; there are levels that you may never be ushered into until you grow; there are results that may forever elude you until you grow; there are things you will just never achieve until you grow from your current level.

Grow in your walk with God; deepen your passion for the presence and power of God; grow in your hunger for God’s word; grow in the knowledge and understanding of scriptures; grow in your competence and abilities; grow in your commitment and dedication to God and to whatever you do; grow in your prayer life; grow in the control of your actions and thoughts; grow in your abilities, skills, career, business, ministry, etc.

The mere fact that you are not growing does not mean that others are not growing; if you fail to grow, people who were once below you will find space to grow above you; if you fail to grow, some opportunities will simply be beyond your reach; if you fail to grow, you will grow into failure; if you fail to raise your game, it’s only a matter of time before irrelevance embraces you.

Don’t make the mistake of remaining on the same level you have always operated on. Dare to grow; arise, and step into higher realms; stretch yourself and go beyond your comfortable limits; in all you ever achieve, please grow and keep growing.

Declaration

I refuse stagnation; I choose to grow and keep growing, in Jesus’ name!
