In our Focal Scripture, the ruler of the marriage feast in Cana of Galilee queried the bridegroom about why he chose to keep the best wine till men were drunk with the old. The first wine finished, and it became a chance for a better wine to be made manifest. The first wine finished, and new wine that was on a different level was divinely supplied. The first wine finished, so that the bridegroom could leave his current level.
Friend, your ‘old wine’ may have finished, and God says, it finished so that you will not return to your old level. Your ‘old wine’ finished because there is a new level that will soon unfold; your old level may have crumbled, because there is a new level on the way for you; your old opportunities may have expired, because there are new opportunities which will unfold shortly; the old may have expired, because God has a new in store for you.
That moment when the old wine finished may have been embarrassing, but it gave way to a greater level that put smiles on everyone who drank the new wine that Jesus made. So what looked like bad news became the harbinger of good news. Hear me as I hear the Lord: your bad news is about to be replaced with good news that will wipe your tears; your embarrassment will give way to mega celebration.
When Jehovah is involved, the expiration of your old wine is the end of your old level; when Jehovah is involved, you only run out of the old wine because your time in the old level has expired. The same Jesus that caused the marriage feast in Cana to get a new lease of life after the old wine finished, is available to bring new things on board once your ‘old wine’ finishes.
Get set for the new level that will follow after your ‘old wine’ has finished. Get ready for your new level, and be sure you are not returning to that old level.
