Keep Growing

6th August 2019

Scripture Reading: Exodus 2: 1-10

Focus

“2. And the woman conceived, and bare a son: and when she saw him that he was a goodly child, she hid him three months. 3. And when she could not longer hide him, she took for him an ark of bulrushes, and daubed it with slime and with pitch, and put the child therein; and she laid it in the flags by the river's brink.” (Exodus 2: 2-3)

Moses was initially hidden when he was born, but after three months, his mother saw that she could no longer hide him. Moses was a goodly child; the word goodly as applied in that scripture means to be favoured and prosperous. So a favoured and prosperous child was hidden for three months, but afterwards, it became impossible to hide him.

Moses’ voice could have been low enough for him to be hidden so that no one would know that a Hebrew child has been born; but as he grew older, his voice would have become stronger, his cries would have become louder, and it became impossible to keep his birth a secret. The growth of Moses made it impossible for him to be hidden. He simply grew out of the stage of being hidden. He grew above his confinement.

Friend, as you grow, you will grow above every confinement; as you increase in wisdom and stature, it will become impossible at some point to keep your destiny under lock and key; as you advance in your assignment, you will become too relevant to be ignored; as you make progress in your career, business, academics, ministry, etc, what held others behind will gradually be unable to hold you back.

Moses kept growing, and it became impossible to keep him in hiding. As you grow, you will grow out of obscurity, you will grow out of irrelevance, you will grow out of confinement, you will grow out of every trap that holds back people that are not growing. Some battles will cease in your life once you grow beyond where you are now. Some enemies will be unable to pull you down once you take your prayer life, vocation, etc more seriously.

Grow in grace, in wisdom, in stature, in favour, in efficiency, in dedication, in commitment, in consistency, etc, and you will gradually become too grown to be hidden.
