“There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory.” (1 Corinthians 15: 41)
That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.
Our Focal Scripture speaks of the glory of the sun. The sun is literally the king of lights. There is not a single light on earth that is brighter than the sun. Notice however that despite being the king of lights, the sun does not appear all the time. The sun shows up in the day and is unavailable in the night. It knows when to show up and when not to show up. It knows when to be seen and when not to be seen. It knows when to appear and when to exit.
Friend, as a burning and shining light that God has empowered you to be in 2023, know when to shine and when not to shine. Know when to show up and when not to show up. Know when to appear and when to disappear. Know when you are needed and when you are not needed. Know the people to show up for and the people not to show up for. Know the environments where you should appear and environments never to appear in.
The mere fact that the sun is the king of lights does not mean that it shows up for the entire day and night. The mere fact that the sun is the king of lights does not mean that it does not take a break from showing up. In 2023, discern the time to show up and the time to be away from the faces of people. Know where to shine and where not to shine. Know where to be heard and where to be silent. Discern the right timing for your showing.
Every person carries an atmosphere, positively or negatively. The places and people you show up for will definitely rub off on you, in a matter of time. You may likely pick up a few traits, positively or negatively, by simply showing up in certain places and coming in contact with certain people. As you run your race in 2023, may the Lord show you when to show up and when not to show up. May you discern the right timing to show up.
Remember, shining brightly does not mean the same thing as shining without recourse to timing. Discern your right timing for shining this year. Don’t show up when you should not show up. Don’t appear when you should rather disappear.
Ecclesiastes 3: 1 says: “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:”
Declare With Me: I discern the right timing for my shining; I will not appear when I should disappear, in Jesus’ name!
