Our Focal Scripture speaks of that moment when Samuel took the horn of oil and poured same on David, symbolizing his anointing as king of Israel. In Genesis 28, Jacob poured oil on a stone and called the name of the place Bethel, and the name of that place remained Bethel for generations yet to come. So the pouring of oil was symbolic of making something permanent. The oil came on David, and he became the first in a dynasty of kings.
Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: by reason of the oil of God upon your life, you will last long. Your greatness will not be a flash in the pan. Your relevance will not be short-lived. Your career, business, ministry, vocation, etc. will not be short-lived. Your impact will remain on the sands of time long after you are gone. Your name will continue to ring a bell long after you are gone. Yours shall be called lasting greatness.
Hear me as I hear the Lord: it will never be said that you expired on your higher levels. It will never be said that you rose higher and later came down. It will never be said that you moved forward and later moved backwards. It will never be said that the favour, goodness, mercy, hand, etc. of God on your life was short-lived. It will never be said that you expired and were retired when you were yet to hit your major milestones.
If you must move from where you are, it will be for a higher movement. As you leave your current level, it will be to a higher level. As you leave your current roles, you will step into higher roles. As you leave your current opportunities, it will be for higher opportunities. You are moving from small doors to large gates. You are moving from little to many. You will be relevant beyond your own generation. Your greatness will outlive you.
The same God who made David relevant and even caused Jesus to come through the lineage of David, will cause your greatness to outlive you.
