The first five words in our Focal Scripture read “And it came to pass…”. As what happened previously came to pass, Jesus took new actions that yielded fresh impact. Jesus did not allow the story of His impact to end with whatever He had accomplished; He did not stop because some things had come to pass; He did not rest because some things had come to pass; He simply took new actions to bring new things to pass.
Friend, for every thing that comes to pass, work to make new things happen. For every success that has been applauded, follow up immediately with fresh actions that will birth more success. For every accomplishment that takes you closer to the greatness you desire, take new actions that will take you even closer to the desired heights. For every result that comes to pass, roll up your sleeves and work for the next result.
You are not prepared for a life of impact and continuous relevance and influence if you are unduly fixated on the things that have already passed. You are not prepared for tomorrow’s success if you are still basking in the euphoria of yesterday’s accomplishments; you are not ready for a new release if the past one is all you still think about and dream about; you are not ready for the new if your fixation is on the old.
If it has passed, let it pass; if it has already happened, take your eyes off it; if it has been accomplished, thank God for it and move on to the next target to be accomplished; if they have walked away, let them go. Whatever has passed is not the end of your journey; there is more ahead. There are more accomplishments ahead of you; there are greater heights ahead; there are more things that can still come to pass.
It’s really not about what happened in the past; it’s about what you are able to make happen now. Don’t beg your past to come into your future. Keep your eyes and focus on the things that are ahead.
