LET OTHERS SHINE

Focus

“There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory.” (1 Corinthians 15: 41)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

Our Focal Scripture, apart from making mention of the glory of the sun, also makes mention of the glory of the moon and stars, and speaks of how stars differ from one another. Like we earlier observed, the sun is the king of lights; there is the glory of the sun, but then the moon is also mentioned as having its own glory. Notice that sometimes, the sun goes away from sight, allowing the moon to shine. The sun allows the moon to shine.

Friend, even when God has made you the king of lights, allow other lights around you to shine. Even if you are literally like the sun that shines brighter than others, be willing and mature enough to allow the ‘moon’ around you to shine. No matter the heights that God has allowed you to attain, and no matter the level of relevance you attain, be gracious enough to allow lesser lights around you to shine. Allow the ‘moons’ around you to shine.

The sun does not stop being the sun simply because the moon got a chance to shine. The shining of the moon does not take a thing away from the glory of the sun. In 2023, discern that the shining of another man will not take anything away from your own shining. The shining of those under you will not diminish your own shining. The mere fact that someone around you has become a shining light should not bother you.

Scientists say that the light of the moon is a reflection from the light of the sun. So the moon derives its own light from the light of the sun. As you go through life, be gracious enough to allow your own light to be a platform for other lesser lights to shine. Let your greatness be a springboard for others to become great. Let your achievements empower others to achieve more. Let your light empower other lights to shine.

Don’t be counted amongst those who insist on shining alone and letting no one else shine. You will shine brightly, but you must also allow other lights to shine.

Daniel 12: 3 says: “And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.”

Declare With Me: As I shine, I will allow other people around me to shine; my light will empower others, in Jesus’ name!
