In our Focal Scripture, Joshua lifted up his eyes and he beheld an angel with a sword drawn in his hands. There was already an angel waiting to help Joshua to win his battle, but it was not until he lifted up his eyes that he saw the angel. So Joshua could have remained oblivious of the presence of the angel if he did not lift up his eyes. He could have remained helpless, without knowing that help had already been laid for him.
Friend, glean some wisdom from Joshua: lift up your eyes. Let the eyes of your understanding be opened to see what the Lord has already made available to you. Let the eyes of your understanding be opened to see the new levels that God is inviting you to ascend to. Let the eyes of your inner man be opened to see greatness where others see nothing. Let your eyes be opened to see the opportunities that heaven has blessed you with.
Men who will become greater than their contemporaries are men who see something when others see nothing. Men who will rise above their background are men who dare to see the future that others have not seen. Men who will remain perpetually ahead of time are men who will not see only what is beneath them, but also see what is above them. Men who will be 21st century wonders are men who can see when others are sulking.
That voice that wants you to keep looking downwards in despair, is not of God and is not in your favour. That voice that wants you to see the problem before you but not see the solution, is not the voice of God. When circumstances want you to look down, dare to look up. When situations want you to give up, dare to press on. When what is before you wants you to accept defeat, dare to look beyond defeat and see victory ahead.
Ask the Lord to open your eyes to see what He has already made available to you. Lift up your eyes, and see what the Lord has placed before you.
