Make A Demand

27th May 2019

Scripture Reading: Mark 5: 21-34

Focus

“And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.” (Mark 5: 23)

When Jesus showed up in the place where He was met by Jairus, there was a multitude, but nothing was said of the people in the multitude apart from Jairus. Jairus was the one who saw Jesus and demanded that He come to heal his daughter. Several men were following Jesus, but only Jairus dared to make a demand on the power that Jesus carried. Several men followed Jesus, but only Jairus placed a demand on the power of God.

Friend, it’s not enough to be a follower of Jesus; place demands on the power of God. Call upon God to intervene in the challenges you cannot deal with; call upon God to rewrite the stories that you cannot rewrite; call upon God to surmount the hurdles standing against you; call upon God to fix the areas of your life that seem unfixable; call upon God to do the impossible and the unimaginable; call upon God for a miracle.

The power of God is not meant to be talked about; it is meant to be experienced by you. The power of God is not meant to work only in the lives of other people; it is meant to work in your own life also. The power of God is meant to change those circumstances that have refused to change; it is meant to chart a new course for you; it is meant to rubbish every medical report that is not in your favour; it is meant to yield miracles.

The multitude kept following Jesus, but Jairus made a demand and got a miracle. Those who didn’t make demands became spectators and tale bearers of the one who made a demand and got a miracle. If you fail to make demands on the power of God at work in you or around you, you will end up telling the tales of those who made demands and got results out of the demands they made; if you make no demands, you’ll be empty handed.

Don’t be counted among followers who only follow but never make demands. Place a demand on God’s power, and it will work in your favour.

Declaration

I choose to place demands on the power of God; it will work in my favour, in Jesus’ name!
