Scripture Reading: GENESIS 26: 1-14

Focus

“6. And Isaac dwelt in Gerar: 7. And the men of the place asked him of his wife; and he said, She is my sister: for he feared to say, She is my wife; lest, said he, the men of the place should kill me for Rebekah; because she was fair to look upon. 8. And it came to pass, when he had been there a long time…” (Genesis 26: 6, 7, 8)

In our Focal Scripture, after Isaac had obeyed God and stayed back in Gerar, he spent long years, yet there was no manifestation of the blessings that God had proclaimed upon him and upon his seed. Notice that Isaac had claimed that his wife Rebekah was his sister; he had told the same lie that Abraham told in Genesis 12. He had opened the doors of his life to generational errors, and for several long years, the blessing did not manifest.

Friend, the errors you build your life upon are simply roadblocks that are poised to stop you sooner than later. The mistakes you institutionalize in your life are invitations for the postponement of God’s blessings upon you. If you continue to tell new lies and commit new sins, you just might be stopping yourself more than you imagine. If you continue to indulge in negativity, you will end up hindering the fulfilment of God’s plan for you.

Isaac thought he was escaping trouble when he lied that Rebekah was his sister, but he didn’t realize that he had just told a foundational lie that would cripple his destiny. God had to allow Abimelech to discover the truth before anything changed for Isaac. Sometimes, when God allows your errors to be discovered, it is not to shame you; it is because He loves you too much to allow your errors to keep stopping His plans for your life.

If there be any foundational error that is standing in the way of the fulfillment of the word of the Lord concerning you, let the blood of Jesus blot it out. Whatsoever the enemy has been raising as an accusation against you in God’s presence, it is buried under the blood of Jesus. Whatever you are guilty of, it is buried under the blood. Whatever sinful struggle that has hindered you is buried under the blood of Jesus.

Beware of the errors the enemy is inviting you to accept and normalize. It’s not so that you can have pleasure; it is so that you can lose out of the tomorrow that God has in store for you.

Declaration

I will not stop myself with needless generational errors, in Jesus’ name!

Memory Verse

“When I would have healed Israel, then the iniquity of Ephraim was discovered, and the wickedness of Samaria: for they commit falsehood; and the thief cometh in, and the troop of robbers spoileth without.” (Hosea 7: 1)
