No More Labour

20th March 2019

Scripture Reading: 1 Samuel 1: 1-28

Focus

“Now there was a certain man of Ramathaimzophim, of mount Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephrathite:” (1 Samuel 1: 1)

Elkanah was described as a man of Ramathaimzophim. The name ‘Ramathaimzophim’ means ‘watchtower’ or ‘height of towers’. In most cities in the oriental milieu, there was a watchtower from where enemy threats and invasion could be sighted early and averted. So Ramathaimzophim is symbolic of that place where one has to take responsibility for one’s safety.

Elkanah left his abode annually to go and sacrifice to God in Shiloh. The name ‘Shiloh’ means ‘place of rest’. So Elkanah moved from the place of watching to the place of rest. He moved from the place where he was responsible for safety to a place where all he needed to do was rest. He moved from a place where he needed to make things happen to a place where things were put in place. He moved from labour to rest.

Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: you are entering into your rest. You are moving from the place where you need to make everything happen for yourself to a place where God will position people to make things happen for you; you are moving from a place where you have to labour to get results to a place where your results will come with minimal efforts; you are moving to a new realm where things will be made easy for you.

When a man enters into his rest, he ceases from his labour. When a man enters into his rest, everything comes on a platter of grace; when a man enters into his rest, things that were difficult for others become easy for him; when a man enters into his rest, the things which took others years to accomplish take mere months or even weeks; when a man enters into his rest, miracles that have been delayed are suddenly released.

Your season of excess labour is over; your rest season has come; everything will be easy; results will come without huge labour.

Declaration
