In our Focal Scripture, the psalmist speaks of how the Lord delivered him from the strivings of the people. The word ‘striving’ as used in that scripture, is derived from the Hebrew word ‘riyb’. The word ‘riyb’, among other connotations, also infers an up and down movement. So the psalmist was simply saying that God had delivered him from a pattern of up and down movements. The Lord ended a cycle of rising and falling.
Friend, I pray for you: the cycle of up and down movements in your life is over. The days of rising and falling, are over. The days of progress today and decline tomorrow, are over. The days of success today and failure tomorrow, are over. The days of favour today and rejection tomorrow, are over. The days of being a wanderer in destiny, are over. The days of being caught in instability are over. Rising and falling has ended.
Hear me as I hear the Lord: your family will not rise and fall. Your family members will not go up and later come down. Your career will not oscillate between obscurity and visibility. You will not gravitate from greatness to mediocrity. The good things that God Himself has begun in your life will not be followed by negativity. You will not suddenly go down. You will not fall. Your light will not go dim. Your sun will not go down.
As you move up, you will not come down. As you rise, you will not fall. As you succeed, your success will not be followed and swallowed by failure. As you break forth on all sides, you will not later return to confinement. As you make progress, it will never be said that you later suffered decline. As you celebrate and as you are congratulated, people will not later gather to tell you sorry. No power of hell will make you go up and down.
The cycle of rising and falling in your life, is broken forever. You will not go down.
