Not An Entertainment

30th April 2019

Scripture Reading: Esther 6: 1-14

Focus

“On that night could not the king sleep, and he commanded to bring the book of records of the chronicles; and they were read before the king.” (Esther 6: 1)

In bible times, the record of chronicles was used for entertainment. The idea was not necessarily to keep record of what happened; it was also meant to entertain the king. So that record was being read out to the King, not for Mordecai to be remembered, but for the King to be able to gradually slip into sleep. It was meant to be entertainment for the King, but the King got serious when Mordecai’s issue came up.

Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: your life will not be an entertainment to your generation. Your matter will not come up only to make men laugh; your issues will not be mentioned and the only response will be for people to laugh over it and take your matters lightly; the Lord will cause men to take matters of your destiny seriously; God will cause those that matter to take you seriously and do serious things for you.

King Ahasuerus was a man in power, he had the capacity to turn around the life of Mordecai for good, he had the capacity to give an instruction that would change Mordecai’s status, but alas, the mention of the name of Mordecai was initially for the purpose of entertainment. Hear me as I hear the Lord: when your name is mentioned in high places, it shall not be for leisure; when your name is mentioned in high places, positive results will show up.

Mordecai belonged to the generation of Jews that were in captivity, he feared God, and God would not let his matter become mere entertainment to a king who didn’t fear God. Hear me again: in the circles of those who do not know or fear God, you will not be mentioned as a laughing stock; no heathen man will hear your story and have reasons to laugh at you; God will not allow godless fellows to laugh at your destiny in mockery.

Ask God to touch the heart of those that matter to take your matters seriously. Ask God to put it in the heart of kings to favour you and not laugh at you.

Declaration

My life will not entertain the heathen; I will be taken seriously by men who matter, in Jesus’ name!
