NOT BY QUALIFICATION

29th Sep 2023

Scripture Reading: JOSHUA 2: 1-24, 6: 22-24

Focus

“And she said, According unto your words, so be it. And she sent them away, and they departed: and she bound the scarlet line in the window.” (Joshua 2: 21)

It is remarkably noteworthy that Rahab was eventually numbered in the genealogy of Christ (see Matthew 1 vs. 5). So after being initially introduced as a harlot, Rahab was eventually engrafted into the lineage through which Jesus would be born on earth. Her generation would have written her off at some point; her family would have been ashamed of her, but heaven had a plan to make her greater than she asked for.

Friend, you may have been written off by those who know you; you may have been condemned by those who have your history; you may be deemed not qualified for any good thing that should come your way; you may be numbered amongst those who should never be counted in the roll of honour; you may, like Rahab, have acquired a negative identity that you are not proud of; but guess what? God still has you in His plans.

Despite your failures of yesterday, God still has a great future in store for you. Despite your mistakes, heaven still has you on the list of honour. Despite the multitude of those who have written you off, God still wants you to be the best of the best. Even if you have disqualified yourself from being at the top, the hand of the Lord will take you there. God is poised to make your life more beautiful than it was ever imagined to be.

God picked up Rahab, dusted her, and planted her in the place of honour, where her name will forever be remembered. She was granted a high favour that she clearly did not qualify for. Hear me as I hear the Lord: by the mercy of God, you will be planted on great heights that you believe you don’t qualify for. By the hand of the Lord, you will receive favours that your history says you should not have. You will be chosen like Rahab.

Your past will not stop the glorious future that God has ordained for you. No matter where you got it wrong in the past, ask Jesus to make all things good again in your life.

Declaration

Like Rahab, I am engrafted into high places; I will get more than I qualify for, in Jesus’ name!
