Our Focal Scripture speaks of when Jesus was born, and the wise men that came thereafter. The wise men did not come just because there was a prophecy that Jesus was about to be born; they came when Jesus had actually been born. They came because Jesus had come forth; Jesus was initially in Mary’s womb, and when He was pushed forth, the wise men came calling. A potential within was pushed forth, and wise men showed up.
Friend, push forth your potentials. Start doing what you have capacity for; start living your life like one who has something to offer your generation; deliberately take every opportunity to give the world what God gave you to give them; intentionally release the divine deposits that God has put in you; make a deliberate choice to push forth what you have in you each new day; if God put it in you, it is your duty to push it forth.
What is that divine deposit that heaven has graced you with? It’s time to push it forth. Use your gifts and abilities to serve God and humanity; use your wisdom to make an impact around you; use your knowledge and intellect to lift people around you; use the ideas that heaven has bestowed on you to bring light to your world. Don’t be content to be a loaded vessel; let your world have a taste of what heaven has planted in you.
Mary had something to push forth, and when she did, wise men came from the east to see Jesus. If you fail to push forth your potentials, your ‘wise men’ may never show up; if you fail to push forth what God has planted in you, some ‘gifts’ from your wise men may never come your way; if you fail to push forth your potentials and potentialities, you will die owing your generation.
The prophecy of Jesus’ birth would have made no sense if He was never eventually born. Your potentials make no sense if you fail to push them forth.
