RISE BY FAVOUR

13th August 2023

Scripture Reading: 1 KINGS 3: 16-28

Focus

“Then came there two women, that were harlots, unto the king, and stood before him.” (1 Kings 3: 16)

Our Focal Scripture speaks of that moment when Solomon had just become king, and two women came to him for judgement. Notice that Solomon was still a child when he became king. He was not the eldest, but the word of the Lord spoke in his favour and he emerged as king. He had elder brothers who could have been chosen ahead of him, but he became the chosen one. Solomon was a clear case of a child who became king.

Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: you may not be the most highly ranked, but the favour of God will position you at the top. The favour of God will give you thrones and crowns that your rivals are seeking. The favour of God will open the doors and gates that are ordinarily beyond you. The favour of God will take you to your high places earlier than expected. The favour of God will carry you to where you cannot get to.

In a world where those ahead of you are more likely to be given considerations, may the favour of God cause you to be considered. May the favour of God grant you opportunities that are meant for people ahead of you. May the favour of God position you for a greater rising than you ever bargained for. May the favour of God cause you to have what your contemporaries do not have. May the favour of God position you ahead of the crowd.

By the favour of God, Solomon got what others ahead of him were positioning and even fighting and scheming for. You may not be the best of schemers; you may not know how best to fight like others; but the favour of God will bring your portion to you. It doesn’t matter how others fight for it, but what is yours is coming to you. You may have rivals, but what is yours is coming to you. You will receive your greatness as a gift.

Welcome to that season where favour will position you where your labour cannot take you to. If God be for you, you will be taken to the top by grace and favour.
