Stand In High Places

4th September 2020

Scripture Reading: Mark 11: 1-11

Focus

“And when they came nigh to Jerusalem, unto Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount of Olives, he sendeth forth two of his disciples,” (Mark 11: 1)

In our Focal Scripture, Jesus was on His way to Jerusalem with His disciples. It was before His triumphant entry into Jerusalem (see prophecy in Zechariah 9: 9). Jesus and His disciples were not yet in Jerusalem, but they were at the Mount of Olives. They were not yet at the place of prophecy (Jerusalem), they were not yet at the place of fulfillment of dreams and expectations, but they were on a Mount. They were not on low grounds. They were not on a valley. They were on a high place.

Friend, you may not be in your Jerusalem yet, but God says, you can still walk in your high places. You may not have walked into all that God prepared for you to achieve, but you can still be on the mountain. The mere fact that you have not achieved all your goals does not mean that you should settle in the valley. The fact that God’s word concerning you is yet to come to pass should not push you into the valley of depression. Not being in your Jerusalem is no excuse to be in the valley.

Jesus made the choice to be at the Mount of Olives before arriving at Jerusalem. He chose to stand on a high place even when He was not yet at His preferred destination. You may still be advancing towards your Jerusalem, but dare to stand in the high place of prayers; stay in the high place of preparation; stay in the high place of gaining capacity; stay in the high place of your confidence and faith in God’s word.

Remember, being at Mount Olives did not mean that Jesus had arrived Jerusalem. The fact that you have arrived at your ‘Mount of Olives’ does not mean that you have reached your ‘Jerusalem’. Being on a high place does not mean that you have become all you need to become. When men celebrate the high points that you have attained, be sane enough to remember that there is a ‘Jerusalem’ ahead of you.

Don’t miss out of high places because your ‘Jerusalem’ is not yet a reality. Don’t stay in the valley because you are yet to arrive at your ‘Jerusalem’.

Declaration

On the way to my ‘Jerusalem’, I will not miss my mountain experience, in Jesus’ name!
