When Jesus had sent the multitudes away, He went up into a mountain apart to pray. Jesus dismissed the multitude, and found space to go to a secluded place to have a communion with God. It was not going to be a communion with God in the midst of the multitude; it was a private communion. It was a moment of staying apart, in order to be a part of divine agenda. It was a moment of sacrificing social contact in favour of spiritual refreshing.
Friend, no matter the multitudes you have to deal with, find time to stay apart, alone with God, speaking to God and hearing God speak to you. Nothing beats a man who has spent moments with God; nothing defeats a man who has stepped into the place of glory; nothing beats a life of constant interface with the Lord, in private. It is certainly rewarding to join the multitude to be with God, but there is a place for your private moments with God.
Did you notice that after that private moment with God, Jesus came forth walking on the sea? He spent time with God, and He began taking actions that mere mortals could not take. When you get into deep, private communion with God, you come forth with divine power, ready to do what others cannot do or have never done. When you spend time alone with the Master, you are simply getting set to set new records.
Jesus wouldn’t sacrifice His time in a mountain, alone with God, simply because there was a multitude that wanted to be around Him. He did what was most important, and the multitude didn’t die. Hear me: the multitudes will not die if you leave them to stay alone with God. There is simply no sense in using whatever multitudes are around you as an excuse to stay away from having deep, profound, private moments with God.
Remember, there comes a time when a man must put away physical or social contact in favour of divine encounter. Learn to stay apart, alone with God, and He will endue you with power to live above other men.
