STOP TALKING, ACT

24th July 2024

Scripture Reading: 1 SAMUEL 17: 1-53

Focus

And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth.” (1 Samuel 17: 49)

It is instructive to observe that whereas Goliath took the lead in talking and issuing threats to the children of Israel, it was David who fired the first shot that tilted the battle in Israel’s favour. Goliath was comfortable to talk, but in the end, he never even fired a shot. He did the talking, and yes, David also did some talking; but when it was time to act, only David acted, and David took the victory. Didn’t was not just a talker; he was a doer.

Friend, destiny is not for talkers, who simply talk without acting. Destiny is not for those who give speeches about steps they will never take. Destiny is not about your eloquence in saying what you plan to do without ever doing it. Destiny is about doing. Destiny is about rising to your feet and taking those steps you have been planning to take. Destiny is about rising to the occasion and choosing the pathway of action rather than talking.

Notice that the words of Goliath did not kill anyone. Even the words of David, as fiery and as fierce as they were, did not achieve anything until he fired a stone on Goliath’s forehead. You won’t get anywhere if all you do is talk and do nothing. Even your prophetic declarations may not avail you much if you do not back up your prayers and declarations with real action. You won’t move forward if all you do is talk.

Move beyond talking and start acting. Start taking action about your plans for the year. Start acting on your plans. Start implementing those changes you have been talking about. Start putting your plans to work. Start putting your speeches to work. Start working your dreams. Go beyond mere talk and start acting already. If you said you would do something, do it already; talking about it is not enough. Talk won’t get the job done.

Talk is cheap. Move beyond talk and start doing what you need to do. Destiny is not for talkers; destiny is for doers. Your talk means nothing if you do nothing.

Declaration
