When the soldiers took counsel against Paul and the other prisoners, the centurion kept them from carrying out their wicked plan. They had their bad assessment, they wanted to make Paul and the other prisoners to be victims because their ship was broken, but the centurion spoke on behalf of Paul and stopped the soldiers. The centurion was a captain over a hundred soldiers, and he spoke in favour of Paul.
Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: when the haters and wicked men of this world come against you to subdue you, the captain of the Lord’s host shall speak for you. The Lord of Hosts will stop the wicked men that are plotting against you from carrying out their wicked plans. The Lord of Hosts will remove the barricades that are stopping you from making progress. The Lord of Hosts will hinder those that want to hinder your advancement.
Those soldiers had their ideas about what to do against Paul, but the Centurion had the final say. No matter the devices of the enemies against you, the Lord of Hosts has the final say. If it is contrary to God’s will for you, then it will not stand because your Captain says so. If it is against your progress and interest, it will not stand because your Captain says so. When they take counsel to pull you down, they will fail because your Captain says so.
Paul did not even need to lobby the Captain of those soldiers, but the captain was already willing to help Paul. God is already on your side; He knows where the plots are being made; and He knows how to stop them. When the challenges arise, remind them that your captain is on your side. No matter the lies of the enemy, remind him that your Captain says no.
If they ask you why you are so sure that you will come out victorious, remind them that your Captain says so. Evil will not prevail, because your Captain says so.
