After his meeting with Prophet Samuel, Saul was to meet two men who were stationed by Rachel’s sepulchre. These men were in a place that should remind Saul of the death of his matriarch Rachel who died during the birth of Benjamin (see Genesis 35 vs. 16-18). Benjamin was the patriarch of the tribe that Saul came from. It was a tribe that was birthed in the midst of bad news. It was a tribe that began with bad news in the past.
At the place that should remind Saul of the bad news he had encountered, good news erupted. At a place that should be a reminder of a painful past, Saul found a compass for a more glorious future. At a place that should get Saul to a point of sorrow, the chapter of good news was unleashed. What was meant to be a signpost of a painful past worked for the glorious future of Saul. Simply put, the past worked for the glorious future of Saul.
Friend, in 2020, whatsoever formed a part of your painful and messy past will become a tool for your glorious future. The things that worked against you in the past will work for your glorious future. The things that reduced you in time past will open the gates of a greater tomorrow for you; the people that worked against you in time past will work for your better tomorrow. The facts that were against you in the past will work for you.
Rachel’s death was part of the history of Saul’s tribe of Benjamin, but from the same negative history, a new chapter of good news was opened. Hear me as I hear the Lord: a new chapter of good news is replacing the old chapters and histories of pain and shame in your life. A new chapter of celebration is replacing your days and years of mourning. A new chapter is being unveiled to wipe away the tears from your past negative history.
Get set for a new chapter; get set for the past to come back to work for your future.
