The Tables Are Turning

26th June 2019

Scripture Reading: 1 Samuel 16: 1-13

Focus

“And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all thy children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he keepeth the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him: for we will not sit down till he come hither.” (1 Samuel 16: 11)

When Samuel came to anoint a new king according to God’s instructions, David’s father and brothers were available, but David was in the bush. David would later recount his experience in the bush when he appeared before Saul, and he spoke of how the lions and wild beasts came against him in the bush. So David’s brothers were at home, in a comfort zone, but David was left in the bush, obscure, disadvantaged and exposed.

Samuel later proclaimed that they will not sit down until David arrives. The same man who was disadvantaged was going to get a standing ovation that would begin before he arrives. The same man who was left in obscurity was about to be elevated above people ahead of him, and those ahead of him were to mount a guard of honour that would remain until he journeys from bush to home. The tables simply turned in David’s favour.

Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: the tables are turning. Those who laughed at you are about to celebrate you; those who mocked you before will have no choice but to honour you; those who ridiculed you in time past will see you stand in the place of honour; those who rejected you and placed you in disadvantaged positions will see you positioned on the mountain of relevance and influence; the tables are turning in your favour right now.

Where you are now is not where you will be forever; things are changing in your favour real fast; things are turning around for your good; the tables are turning; you are moving from low places to high places; you are moving from obscurity to undeniable visibility; you are moving from the bush to the palace; you are moving from the back to the front; you are moving to the throne. You are moving ahead of the crowd.

Ask God to turn the tables in your favour; ask God to position you ahead of the crowd.
