They Will Not Sit

25th June 2019

Scripture Reading: 1 Samuel 16: 1-13

Focus

“And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all thy children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he keepeth the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him: for we will not sit down till he come hither.” (1 Samuel 16: 11)

In our Focal Scripture, Samuel announced to Jesse and his sons that they would all remain standing until David arrives. People who were older than David were to remain standing until David would arrive; even his father was to remain standing until David’s arrival. Samuel, the Prophet who would eventually anoint David, was also to remain standing. There was to be no relaxation among those who should facilitate and witness David’s elevation.

Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: any man that should make the will of God for your life become a reality, today I decree, they will not sit down. Those who should push your matters forward will not sit down until your matter is settled in your favour; those who should favour you will not sit down until the favour that God would have them give you gets to you; those who should lift you higher will not relax until you are fully lifted.

David’s brothers showed up early enough, and even Eliab nearly got anointed by Samuel, but in the end, they all had to wait until David arrived. They arrived early enough, only to end up waiting for David who was in the bush. Hear me as I hear the Lord: they will not sit down until you arrive; they will not relax until you arrive to take that which the Lord has ordained for you; they will not enjoy any rest until your portion enters your hands.

Don’t lose sleep when the competitors of this world run ahead of you; they may get there before you, but they will not sit until you arrive. The father and brothers of David were compelled to remain standing because of the instruction of the Prophet Samuel. They did not sit, not by choice, but by divine compulsion. God will compel those who need to stand, to keep standing.

Until you fulfill destiny and sit on your throne, some men will not sleep nor relax. If God did it for David, He would do same and even more for you.
