Scripture Reading: 2 King 9: 1-13

“And Elisha the prophet called one of the children of the prophets, and said unto him, Gird up thy loins, and take this box of oil in thine hand, and go to Ramothgilead:” (2 Kings 9: 1)

In our Focal Scripture, Elisha told one of the sons of the prophets to gird up his loins in readiness for a journey to Ramothgilead. Girding up one’s loins meant to tuck in one’s flowing garment into a girdle worn around the waist. The idea was to ensure that one’s dress did not get in the way of one’s movement. So Elisha was mandating that son of the prophet to ensure that he doesn’t stop himself. So there was a possibility that the son of the prophet could stop himself.

Friend, as you press on into higher levels, be careful not to stop yourself. Be careful to tuck in the ‘long robes’ that will not allow you to move fast enough. Put away relationships that have the capacity to stop you. Put away the garments that have the capacity to stop you. Put away the activities that could distract you. Put away the habits that can stop you. Put away the mistakes that can stop you. Put away whatever will slow down your movement to the top.

There was a movement to be made by that son of the prophets; there was an assignment that he needed to accomplish; there was a new height previously not attained by prophets in training, and for him to proceed, that particular son of the prophets had to tuck in the very beautiful garment that could stop him. Sometimes, the things that have capacity to stop you are beautiful garments and beautiful pleasures that must be kept aside.

Today, look inwards and discern that garment that needs to be tucked in. If there be anything that has the capacity to stop you, tuck it in. Tuck in the pleasures that want to stop or distract you. Tuck in every mentality that is counter-productive to your advancement; tuck in your appetite; tuck in your distractions; tuck in your fleshly pleasures that are robbing you of divine speed; tuck in everything that doesn’t want you to rise fast.

The journey to your Ramothgilead needs all the speed you can muster. Don’t allow a garment that can be put away to slow you down.

I tuck in every garment that wants to slow me down, in Jesus’ name!

Memory Verse

“As for us, we have this large crowd of witnesses around us. So then, let us rid ourselves of everything that gets in the way, and of the sin which holds on to us so tightly, and let us run with determination the race that lies before us.” (Hebrews 12: 1 GNB)
