Useful Enemies

10th March 2020

Scripture Reading: 2 Kings 6: 24-25, 7: 1-20

Focus

“Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the LORD; Thus saith the LORD, Tomorrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.” (2 Kings 7: 1)

When Elisha prophesied about the abundance that was to return to Israel, the Syrians were put to flight and they abandoned everything they had in their camp. The Syrians originally came to fight against the people of Samaria, but their planned attack culminated in the increase and abundance that the people of Samaria later experienced. Their wicked attempt to reduce God’s people backfired on them and increased God’s people.

Friend, are there enemies who have arisen against you to pull you down? As surely as the Lord lives, their efforts against you will backfire on them. As they plot against you, they will go down in your place; as they try to smear your image, it is their own image that will go down; as they come against you in their large numbers, the Lord will cause their evil plots to come to nothing. Their wickedness will burn their own fingers.

The Syrians did not only lose what they had in their efforts to pull Israel down; what they had eventually became the property of the children of Israel. Their property advanced Israel. They came as enemies, but they became messengers of Israel’s good news and increase. Hear me as I hear the Lord: those that have come against you as enemies will soon become messengers of your good news and increase.

Elisha spoke a word of prophecy, and the word of the Lord that was proclaimed caused the wickedness of the wicked to backfire on them. The word of the Lord that was proclaimed caused enemies to become messengers of Israel’s increase and good news. Proclaim the word of the Lord against every enemy that has arisen against you, and their wickedness will backfire on them; your enemies will become messengers of your good news.

Arise and speak against every enemy of your destiny; command their wickedness to backfire on them; command them to become messengers of your increase.
