Scripture Reading: MARK 5: 21-34

Focus

“And when Jesus was passed over again by ship unto the other side, much people gathered unto him: and he was nigh unto the sea.” (Mark 5: 21)

In our Focal Scripture, Jesus passed over again to the other side where a multitude besieged him. Jesus had previously gone to the Gadarenes where He healed the mad man out of whom He cast out a legion of demons. The people in the Gadarenes asked Jesus to leave; He performed a miracle and they rejected Him and asked Him to leave; with all the value Jesus could offer, they asked Him to leave, and He left and passed over by ship.

Friend, when you are rejected despite the value you bear within you, do yourself a favour by walking away. Don’t hang around people and environments where you are not needed; don’t hang around those who have no regard for your capacity and capabilities; don’t stay in the circle of those who see what you have to offer but refuse to give you a chance; don’t reject yourself simply because people rejected you.

While in the Gadarenes, Jesus delivered a mad man from demons. The people in the city could not understand what happened, and they asked Him to leave. Sometimes, those who reject you are just unable to keep up with the new things that God is doing in your life and through you; they reject you because they are ignorant of whom God has made you; they reject you because there is a blessing on your life that they cannot tamper with.

Jesus did not remain in the Gadarenes after He was sent out; He simply returned to the other side where Jairus and the woman with the issue of blood were waiting for His services. He left where He was not needed, and He went to where He was needed. When they reject you, go to those who need and accept you; when they push you out, they are simply pushing you closer to opportunities for relevance.

Stop seeking the acceptance and validation of those who will never accept your greatness. Don’t lose sleep because of those who cannot stand and watch you being blessed and mightily used of God. If they can’t accept you, walk away.

Declaration
