Crowned On Purpose

Yesterday’s Pain

11th September 2021

Scripture Reading: Psalm 92: 1-12

Focus

“The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.” (Psalm 92: 12)

According to agriculturists, because the natural oils in the cedar trees don’t develop in their younger years, there may be attacks that could cause the inner trunk to rot in younger trees. This rot leads to a hollow in the trunk when the trees are older. The attack that the cedar tree suffers when it is young and immature creates a hollow in the tree when it is mature. The attack in the younger years of the cedar tree creates a future hollow.

The hollow in mature cedar trees eventually serve as homes for animals. Birds fly into the hollow for safety; animals creep into the hollow to rest. So, what looks like a damage on the cedar tree in its younger years creates comfort for animals in later years. What looks like an attack on the cedar tree in younger years serves a higher purpose when the tree grows to maturity. The attack on the cedar tree helps it to become a place of comfort.

Friend, whatever attack you have faced in time past will make you a source of comfort to your generation. What you have been through in time past will position you to comfort others with the comfort you have received. The pains and hurts of the past will make you a source of healing to your generation. The misfortunes, mistakes, rejections, delays, devastations, etc of the past will make you ready to shelter wounded people.

Those that hurt you in the past only prepared you to heal others in the future. The struggles you went through in different areas of your life will help others out of their own struggles. There is someone waiting to hear your story and how you overcame. Someone needs to hear that you’ve been in their shoes. That pain of yesterday is for tomorrow’s gain. That attack of yesterday is for tomorrow’s comfort.

Whatever you have experienced in time past is your tool for tomorrow’s impact. Every downside of our destiny will bring comfort to your generation.

Declaration
