In our Focal Scripture, Jesus made mention of a city that is set on a hill which cannot be hid. Jesus was speaking about lights, and He created an analogy with a city that is set on a hill. A hill is a creation of nature. A hill is simply nature at work. A hill is natural. So Jesus seemed to infer that there are lights that are borne out of nature. He seemed to infer that there are lights that are creations of nature. He seemed to suggest that there are lights that are nothing more than nature’s endowment.
Friend, notice that you were not wired to be just a light that was endowed by nature. You were wired to be a light that would serve the world. You were wired to be that light that has more than just a mere natural ability. Your abilities are good, but God did not bring you up so that all there is to your greatness will be mere natural endowment. If all you can boast of is natural abilities, then you are living below your destiny mandate.
A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid; but if all you have become is a light that feeds a city, you may not be hid, but you will end up in just your city. If the light that you carry is only enough for your city, then you are not yet fulfilling God’s mandate to be the light of the world. If your greatness is not yet shining beyond your city, then you need to raise your game. If your greatness is only recognized in your city, then you need to be more.
A man with a global mandate should not end up with a city mandate. It is an error to show up with the capacity of a global light and still end up as a mere city light. If God empowered you to be a global light, why slow down because you have been able to light up your city? If your greatness has conquered your city, bless God, but don’t stop until you have threshed the nations like wheat. Don’t stop until your light has shone all over the world.
Don’t be counted amongst them that ended as city lights. Dare to be more than just natural endowment. Dare to be a global light. Arise as the light of the world.
