You Can Be Replaced

30th January 2020

Scripture Reading: 1 Samuel 10: 1-7, 15: 1-35

“And let it be, when these signs are come unto thee, that thou do as occasion serve thee; for God is with thee.” (1 Samuel 10: 7)

It is instructive to observe that when Saul disappointed God by going against God’s instructions, God elected to change His mind about Saul’s kingship, and He commanded Samuel to go and anoint David to take Saul’s place. Saul disappointed God, and the throne and crown that was earlier made for him was passed on to David. He messed up his chance, and another man was given divine rights to take his throne and crown.

Friend, in 2020, always remember that you are not the only one that God could have chosen to wear a crown and sit on a throne. You are not the only one that God could have lifted. There are many more people seeking the thrones and crowns that are coming to you; there are more people waiting to give a better account of themselves than you are willing to give; there are more people wishing to please God whilst on the throne.

This year, keep it in mind that there are other committed people; there are other competent people; there are other people desirous of your throne and crown; there are other people wishing they were in your shoes; there are other people-pleasing God in the ‘bush’, and whom God could call upon to take your place if you mess up; there are Davids out there who may not be known by you but who are royalty, though in the ‘bush’.

Saul messed up and caused God to shift His attention to David; in the end, David became the patriarch of a great dynasty that could have been Saul’s. Guess what? If you choose to disappoint God, you won’t be the only loser; there are people coming after you who will lose what should have come to them because you chose to fail God when it mattered most; there are people connected to you who will lose future thrones.

Don’t be counted among those who kept failing God until He was forced to find replacements for them. Take your crown and throne with an understanding that you are not the only one fit to have them.

In 2020 and beyond, I will not fail God, and I will not lose my thrones and crowns, in Jesus’ name!
