Scripture Reading: Nehemiah 2: 1-9

Focus

“And a letter unto Asaph the keeper of the king's forest, that he may give me timber to make beams for the gates of the palace which appertained to the house, and for the wall of the city, and for the house that I shall enter into. And the king granted me, according to the good hand of my God upon me.” (Nehemiah 2: 8)

Nehemiah did not only request for a letter to be addressed to governors of various regions of Babylon. He also requested for a letter to be sent to Asaph, keeper of the King’s forest, so that he would be given timber. The timber he requested for, did not belong to him; that timber was not kept for his use. So, Nehemiah requested for provision that was not his own. He requested to be given what other men laboured to put together.

Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: you are about to receive resources you did not labour for. You are about to gain access to provisions that were not originally meant for you. You are about to enjoy resources that were not yours in the first place. God is carrying you into a new season of increase that will come at the expense of another man. You are about to receive portions where your labour will not be involved.

Nehemiah asked to be given timber that was meant for the king. So he asked for provision that was meant for kings. Hear me as I hear the Lord: you are about to become a recipient of what is meant for kings. God will grant you the portion that is meant for men in high places; God will cause you to enjoy what is clearly ahead of your level in life; God will grant you access that will give you more than you truly deserve.

When Jehovah is involved, you don’t only get the much you worked for or can work for; you get what is beyond your capacity. When God gives, He gives based on His abundance. Get set: the floodgates of heaven are opened to you; you will be given the portion of kings; you will be given portions in places you did not put in labour; you will be given portions that are too massive to be your own; you will be given the portions of the mighty.

Ask God to grant you the same favour that was granted to Nehemiah. Ask God to empower you to partake of provisions that were never yours.
