Eat Heaven’s Bread

Scripture Reading: 1 Samuel 30: 1-20

Focus

“And David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech's son, I pray thee, bring me hither the ephod. And Abiathar brought thither the ephod to David.” (1 Samuel 30: 7)

In our Focal Scripture, David asked Abiathar the priest to bring him the ephod. The ephod was meant for priests only; David was not a priest, but he asked for the ephod. In 1 Samuel 21 vs. 1-9, David had gone to the temple, and he ate the bread that was meant for priests. Several chapters later, David stepped into a realm of priesthood though not being a priest. What he ate in the past, seemed to usher him into the realm of priesthood.

Friend, never joke with a man who is feasting on the raw word of the Lord. Never joke with a man who is eating what is meant for ‘priests’. Never joke with a man who is feasting at God’s table, gleaning wisdom and hearing the Lord speak. Never joke with a man who is eating words from God in a way that you have not eaten. Never miss an opportunity to eat more ‘bread’ from the ‘temple’. Never miss an opportunity to get deeper.

David ate the bread that was meant for priests, and eventually, though Abiathar the priest was available, it was David who enquired of the Lord. By virtue of what David ate, he took the place of a priest that was available. As you get deeper and feast on the ‘bread’ of ‘priests’, God will cause you to take the place of ‘priests’ that haven’t done what they should do. As you get deeper into God, God will take you deeper into His will, and take you into higher realms of relevance and influence.

Keep eating hot coals from God’s oven. Keep digging deeper into God. Keep digging deep into God’s word. Keep your spirit man open to receive the words from God. Keep your inner man receptive to what God has to say. David ate the temple bread when men were not there, but the result of it manifested when men were there. Every private eating comes with a public manifestation in a matter of time.

Remember, the key to doing more is to eat more. Eat more and more of the bread of heaven, and it will take you into higher realms.
