Raised On Purpose

Scripture Reading: 2 Kings 9: 1-13

Focus

“And thou shalt smite the house of Ahab thy master, that I may avenge the blood of my servants the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of the LORD, at the hand of Jezebel.” (2 Kings 9: 7)

Our Focal Scripture speaks of that moment when the son of the prophets told Jehu the reason for his sudden elevation to kingship. Jehu was a mere captain, he didn’t originally belong to royalty, but God orchestrated his elevation to kingship, with a purpose, to cut off the entire family of Ahab. It was not a lifting for Jehu to enjoy. It was an elevation with an assignment hanging on it. It was an elevation that came with a clear purpose.

Friend, for every elevation that God will ever bring your way, there is a purpose. There is a reason for that job He gave you. There is a reason for the children He gave you. There is a reason for the authority He put in your hands. There is a purpose for the opportunities He caused you to have. There is a reason for the advantage that God gave you above others. There is a purpose for your lifting and even your future lifting.

In subsequent verses of scripture, as soon as the captains blew with trumpets that Jehu is king, the next thing Jehu did was to ride in a chariot to start his assignment of cutting off the family of Ahab. So Jehu was lifted and his first step was to focus on the very reason why God raised him in the first place. As soon as God raises you, find out why He raised you and focus on it. Focus on the purpose of your calling and lifting.

Jehu could have decided to keep enjoying the trumpets that his fellow captains blew for him, but no! He left the blowing of the trumpets and went straight for the assignment assigned to his kingship. Don’t make the mistake of allowing the blowing of the trumpets of men to hinder you from fulfilling the assignments that God has placed on your life. Don’t allow the applause of men to distract you from your assignment.

Pay less attention to the trumpets, pay less attention to the applause of men, pay less attention to the perks of your lifting, and focus on the assignment tied to your kingship. Don’t let your elevation be in vain. Don’t let God raise another to fulfill an assignment He gave you.

Declaration

I focus on my assignment; no distractions; no man will be raised to fulfil my assignment, in Jesus’ name!
