In our Focal Scripture, Jesus gave two of His disciples a mandate to go and fetch a colt from a village. The names of these disciples were not mentioned; all that we could decipher from Jesus’ words was the assignment He gave them. They were unknown, but their assignment was known. They were obscure, but their assignment continues to ring a bell several generations later. They were unknown, but their assignment distinguished them.
Friend, what is the assignment that God has given you? What is that responsibility that heaven has entrusted into your care? What is that target that heaven is counting on you to hit? What is that mountain that heaven wants you to make low? What is that stronghold that heaven wants you to break? What is that goal that heaven is expecting you to hit? What is that generation that heaven is expecting you to untie from bondage?
Today, God says, discover your assignment and face it already. Take up the responsibilities that heaven has bestowed on you. Take your life’s assignment more seriously than you ever have. Take your ministry assignments seriously. Take your secular assignments seriously. If God has sent you to accomplish a thing, stay away from distractions and face the assignment. Throw in all you have into your assignment.
Those disciples did not have their names mentioned, but their assignment distinguished them. Their names were not heard, but what God sent them to accomplish was heard. Hear me as I hear the Lord: your name may not be heard, but whatsoever the Lord has empowered you and capacitated you to accomplish will be heard. Your name may not be heard, but the impact of your sojourn on earth will still be felt long after your exit.
Stop looking for the day your name will be known, and focus on the assignment that the Lord has given you. It’s about His work; it was never about your name.
