God Has Purchased

19th March 2019

Scripture Reading: 1 Samuel 1: 1-28

Focus

“Now there was a certain man of Ramathaimzophim, of mount Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephrathite:” (1 Samuel 1: 1)

Our Focal Scripture reveals the identity of Elkanah, the husband of Hannah and Peninnah. The name Elkanah means ‘God has purchased’. Elkanah’s name speaks of what God can do. Elkanah’s name speaks of how God can literally see the price tag on someone and pay the price in order to grant the person redemption. Man had fallen from grace, but God decided to buy man back by sending Jesus to die on the cross.

Friend, you belong to that company that God already purchased. Jesus already paid so that your life will be free from the bondage of the enemy. Jesus paid so that darkness will not rule or reign over you. Jesus became poor that you may become rich; He was wounded that you may be healed; He left His high estate in heaven to come and redeem you so that you will have a chance to be with the Father in heaven someday. Jesus took the portion of them that are cursed that you may be blessed.

If you have accepted the redemptive work of Jesus, then live like one whom God has purchased. Live like one who has been set free from the shackles of the enemy; live like one who has been given access into the things that pertain to life and godliness; appropriate the good health, divine access, divine presence, peace, forgiveness, etc that Jesus paid for when He died for you. Live like one who no longer has a business with sin.

If Jesus already paid for it, then the devil has no business making you to pay again. You have no business paying again to be forgiven; you have no business begging for access to God when He already has given you access; you have no business living like one who must suffer before anything works; you have no business being rejected, disappointed, stagnated, etc if Jesus has paid. Don’t live below what Jesus guaranteed by His blood.

Remember, if Jesus has already paid, then it is yours, and you need not pay again. If Jesus has already paid, then it is yours to enjoy.
