Scripture Reading: 2 Kings 4: 1-7

Focus

“Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the LORD: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen.” (2 Kings 4: 1)

Our Focal Scripture makes mention of one of the sons of the prophets who died and left his family in debt. Sons of the prophets were prophets in training who belonged to the School of Prophets. The idea was for them to learn the rudiments of prophecy under the tutelage of a Major Prophet, and possibly become Major Prophets in a matter of time.

Notice that the man mentioned in our Focal Scripture died as one of the sons of the prophets. He died while still in training. He began a journey that should have culminated in his becoming a major prophet, but that journey was not completed. His journey ended on the way. His efforts did not get him to his destination. His rising was cut short. His journey stopped on the way.

Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: you will not stop on the way. Your journey to greatness will not stop on the way. Your rise to your next level will not stop on the way. Your results will not stop on the way. Your impact will not stop on the way. Your projects will not stop on the way. Your breakthroughs will not stop on the way. Your testimonies will not stop on the way. Your relevance will not be cut short abruptly.

That man may have had all the prospects and positive expectations woven around him; people may have looked forward to the day he would rise from being a mere trainee and become a trainer to others, but that was not to be, because death stopped him on the way. Hear me as I hear the Lord: no negativity will halt your journey to greatness. No power of hell will stop you.

You will become all that God has destined and empowered you to become. You will be called that one that started and completed his journey.
